in my own words... "My partner and I
came across Zacuto at NAB 2007. After seeing all other options out
there we agreed that the Zacuto is the Rolls Royce of camera support
systems and we decided to buy one for our HVX200. Since then, we’ve
shot a few commercials for the Venezuelan market and the Zacuto has
been an asset to those productions. One of those projects was a Unicef commercial flash, Unicef Commercial QuickTime, which we shot in
the biggest and most dangerous slum of Latin America. It involved
kids, all residents of that slum, to run after a ball that was
rolling down the little alleys and streets. Most of these streets
and alleyways could not be accessed by car, so the production
involved walking up steep stairs to reach the location. The Zacuto
was great for this, because we could rig all of our equipment to one
support system and then carry it around in a run and gun style. The Unicef spot was shot with a HVX200, RedRock M2, Zacuto Studio
Package & a Firestore FS100.
![]() In other
productions we took advantage of the handheld configuration, which
absolutely rocks. Video cameras with 35mm adaptors and lenses become
so incredibly front-heavy that doing handheld work is almost
impossible unless you are Hulk Hogan. With the Zacuto you can create
a counterbalance and adjust it exactly to your needs. Once the
weight is balanced on your shoulder you can do handheld with almost
no pressure on your arms. This is fantastic. Thanks Steve and Jens
and all you guys at Zacuto. You are truly doing a great job!"
